RC Superintendent Tidbits

It feels like summer, if only for a couple days. We are running our junior high track meet this week, our high school
track team will be heading to O’Neill, and our junior high and high school golf teams will be competing at
Summerland. By the end of the week, we will have a lot of students, and staff, looking like lobsters. With the
weather we have had so far this spring, we will take it.
On another note, the Rock County School Board of Education met this week and continued the discussion on
facilities. Everyone present believes it is time to get serious about updating our facilities. We have some serious
issues to correct in the high school building which will require a fairly large project. The scope of the project is yet
to be determined and we will have public meetings and surveys to get input on the project to best ensure we are
meeting the needs of all of our students, staff, and community members.
The grade school is also in need of many repairs. We will be moving forward on some of the repairs that are more
dire while still exploring the option of building an addition at the high school campus to house the grade school.
This would help us solve many issues we currently have in the district including pick up and drop off of students,
staff losing time traveling between campuses, and parking around the grade school. There would be so many
positives to building an addition on the high school for the grade school that it is worth the resources to explore
this option further. This will also include surveys and public meetings in order to get input from all stakeholders. If
you feel strongly one way or the other, please reach out to me and give your opinion and the reasons behind it so I
can share them with the board.
