The start of 2024 brings exciting changes to Rock County Public Schools.  As you may have seen, we are in the final stages of designing the renovation/addition project to be completed the summer of 2024.  These changes are going to address many needs for our facilities, staff, and students.

The first thing being addressed is all of the faulty wiring.  We have had issues with our wiring in this portion of the building for as long as I have been employed at Rock County and we are going to take care of all of those issues.  Included in the project will be all new wiring throughout the project as well as control boards.  This will all be brought up to current code and will also be able to accommodate any potential future growth we may see.

The plumbing will also be getting updated throughout the entire project.  We will be putting in seven new ADA compliant bathrooms with all new lines going to them.  The plumbing inside the building will be all new and should outlast everyone currently working at the school.

The final and possibly the most important issue being resolved is the issue of safety and security at the high school.  We will be moving the main office to the front door of the building with a secure vestibule so we can better control the access to the building during the school day.  Visitors will still have to buzz in but then they will be let directly into the office and they can get escorted to their destination by office staff.  This will not change the way we enter for concerts, games, and other events.  This will only change the way we allow people to enter while students are in the building in classes.

The changes are both exciting and terrifying.  The company doing the work, Sampson Construction, has set an aggressive timeline of being completed by the time school begins in August.  For this to all be complete by then, we are going to have work being done at a frantic pace once they get started.  Thank you to all of our students, staff, and community who have shown support for getting this much needed work done for our stakeholders.
