RC Superintendent Tidbits

Homecoming week is here!!! With Homecoming, things get a bit hectic around the school buildings. We have adults dressed as kids, kids dressed as other kids, and kids dressed as superheroes (not teachers even though they are the true superheroes). As we take in the craziness that is Homecoming, it gets me thinking about other areas of the school district that seem to be a bit crazy. In this case, I am talking about the drop-off and pick-up of students around the school buildings. If you are dropping kids off before school or coming to pick kids up after school, please be extra mindful of other kids who may or may not take a look both ways. The street in front of the grade school is very hectic, especially in the mornings. An extra minute in the morning to ensure we do not have an accident will be well worth it in the long run. Rock County Public Schools will also be looking into other potential safety measures that could be helpful to keep our students safe. Thanks for keeping your own kids safe while also looking out for others.
Speaking of crazy, a special thanks goes out to the parents and other adults who organized and ran the Homecoming pep rally Sunday night. Students from Rock County and Keya Paha County schools were treated to good food and then participated in a jersey auction and games. Thank you to the Bassett Volunteer Fire Department for setting up and assisting with the water fight. I think there could be a little recruiting going on for the fire department because some of the students really looked pretty good geared up running the hoses. It was a great way to kick off Homecoming week for North Central activities.
