RC Superintendent Tidbits

It is hard to believe that we are only two weeks from the end of the first quarter. We have had many great things happening at Rock County Public Schools. Bassett Grade School students rocked the fall MAP tests and showed great improvement. You may also notice the hordes of kids running around the block at the grade school some days as Mrs. Cosgrove is promoting movement and exercise through running club. Which by the way, adults are allowed to participate in if you are looking for more exercise in your day. Our intervention groups are up and running so there are students and staff moving throughout the building all day. We have great intervention teachers working with our outstanding classroom teachers to provide instruction where each student needs it. The Bassett Grade School library is now offering “Hang Out” times for all grades. These times are designed to allow kids to come to the library and do activities for fun. These activities include puzzles, ipad games, reading books, playing other games, or simply hanging out with Mrs. Kunz.
As the temperatures are changing and may fluctuate by 30 or 40 degrees in a given day, it is important for all parents to think about what they are sending with their child for clothes. There may be a need for coats, hats, and gloves in the morning and by the afternoon, they may be outside in their t-shirts. Bassett Grade School keeps some spare items on hand because we all have those days when things do not go just right in the morning and we forget something. However, the supply is limited so please do your best to keep up with the weather and send your child prepared for what may come that day.
