RC Superintendent Tidbits

One drive past the Bassett Grade School will give you a pretty good idea of how the Rock County Board of Education spent some of the federal dollars that were handed out due to COVID-19. You can see the new windows and the color change on the siding, which I think looks fantastic. This project includes new windows at the high school as well as new doors in some areas of the high school. All of this was made possible right now because of the federal dollars that were handed out.
I will not get into whether or not I believe the federal government should have been handing out that money but I do know that it was put to good use by the Rock County Board of Education. We have been able to do the windows and doors update, pay for the salary and benefits of one of our staff members for two years and update our laptops for kids with federal money. These were all expenses that we would have incurred regardless of whether or not we received that money. This allowed us to pay for them without asking our local property taxpayers to foot the bill. I appreciate the board members' fiscal responsibility as they decided what to use this money for.
